Cavernous is a vanilla-like datapack that expands underground exploration with more than 14 cave biomes, new structures, features, and cave-related advancements. Its biomes range from volcanic and caldera caves with lava and geysers, to marshy caves with hanging roots, tropical caves with ancient temples, icy caves where ores are glimpsed beneath ice, and fungal, glowshroom, crystal, marble, lush dripstone, splattered, arid, desert, and painted caves. These environments add distinctive hazards and finds, including poisonous secrets in tropical caves, powder snow and strays in icy caves, amethyst geodes in crystal caves, and husks that can drop sand in arid and desert caves. Underground discoveries include complex variants of vanilla dungeons, cave villages in stone caves, lush cave villages in heavily vegetated areas, husk spawners in desert caves, a trap-filled sandstone temple, and an overgrown tropical temple with valuable loot. In the volcanic depths, the abandoned thermal plant challenges explorers to solve puzzles and cool its reactor to reach treasure; geyser blocks can launch players into the air and can also be stopped with ice or triggered by redstone. Creepers deal slightly less environmental damage but leave a lingering poison cloud, and the datapack adds custom advancements tied to caves and Cavernous.
Written from Modrinth . How we write it
Runs 57 function files: 2 every game tick and 1 when the pack loads. Its commands can place or replace blocks, remove entities, items or data and change game or server settings.
Changes world generation: terrain shape, 19 biomes, caves, decorations such as trees and ores, 9 structures and 1 dimension.
Adds 5 recipes, 22 advancements, 27 loot tables, 81 tags, 2 functions, 1 other data file and 27 predicates.
Replaces 4 of vanilla Minecraft's loot tables and 4 world generation files.
No harmful code found in the parts we could check
We checked what is inside its files, without opening them in the game.
2 of its files for recent versions cannot be checked: its author does not let other sites download them from CurseForge.
Why we show this: a data pack cannot run programs, but its file can hide one. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade.
Sends nothing
A data pack has no code that can connect to the internet, so it cannot send anything about you.
No sign so far that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
We have not read its code history yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
