New in Town is a story-driven settlement-building data pack in which players start with a settler’s wagon, found and develop a town, and ultimately take the fight to the Nether by constructing a fortress. Players can choose where and in what order to build more than 100 structures across three dimensions, including mines, lumber mills, a Wizard Tower, a Bard’s College, fisheries, adventure guilds, railway stations, and a modular castle whose wings can be upgraded independently. Villagers contribute to the settlement’s economy through activities such as resource gathering, while taxes, quests, research tasks, random events, and advancements provide further goals alongside normal Minecraft play. As the town grows, increasingly challenging Nether attacks threaten it, culminating in a confrontation with the Tyrant, a powerful Wither; players can then build a Nether Fortress for a counteroffensive and defend the End in a four-stage invasion battle. Exploration also reveals randomly generated natural features, such as floating islands and ancient drills, where puzzles or tasks can reward secret artifacts used in some town buildings. In multiplayer, players can cooperate on a town or found independent settlements, with each player receiving a distinctively colored wagon tied to their player identity.
Written from Modrinth . How we write it
Runs 652 function files: 1 every game tick and 1 when the pack loads. Its commands can place or replace blocks, remove entities, items or data and change game or server settings.
Changes world generation: 4 structures.
Adds 134 advancements, 159 loot tables, 13 tags and 86 predicates.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's recipes, loot tables and other game data.
No harmful code found
We checked what is inside its files, without opening them in the game.
Why we show this: a data pack cannot run programs, but its file can hide one. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade.
Sends nothing
A data pack has no code that can connect to the internet, so it cannot send anything about you.
No sign that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
