    About

    Age of Steam is a technology and automation mod built around transmitting power mechanically rather than through wires or FE/RF networks. Its core system models real-time motion and mechanical stress across connected parts, which can break when overstressed. The core parts include an FE-to-mechanical motor or generator, a hand generator, wooden axles and flywheels, small and large crankshafts, a clutch, and linear, T-junction, and four-sided distribution gearboxes. The gearboxes provide different transmission arrangements, including a 4:9 ratio for the linear gearbox and 1:1 ratios for the T-junction and distribution gearboxes. Available additions extend the machinery with workshop equipment such as a woodmill, millstone, sieve, and spinning wheel, as well as a mechanical pump and Ancient Warfare 2 generators including a Stirling engine, water wheel, and windmill.
