Fabled Roots is an RPG-lite Minecraft project that lets each player choose a race and class to shape their playstyle, with the option to change those choices later. Its ten races have distinct traits and abilities tied to their origins and environments: Aetherians can slow-float, Dunesworn thrive in deserts, Endlings manipulate gravity, Frostborne freeze nearby foes, Moonshroud turn invisible at night, Netherians resist fire, Oakhearted weaken nearby enemies, Orebringers mine faster, Palehearted gain night vision, and Turtlekin draw on ocean powers. The ten classes support different ways to play, including combat-focused Fighters, ranged Archers, spell-and-song Bards, potion-making Clerics, block-building Builders, cave-minded Miners, animal-oriented Ranchers, exploring Scouts, solitary Hermits, and damage-enduring Survivors; each also gains experience through actions suited to its role. The project also adds race-themed weapons, other gear, spells and scrolls, plus race Shelters and Outposts populated by NPCs and containing hidden journals. Players of the same race gain minor regeneration when near one another, while admins can configure several aspects of the experience in game.
Written from Modrinth and the GitHub README . How we write it
Does not change the game's code directly.
Adds 25 structures, 26 enchantments, 10 paintings, 75 recipes, 65 advancements, 565 loot tables and 24 sounds.
Counted from the names and data files in the mod, so the list may not be complete.
Replaces 8 of vanilla Minecraft's other data files, 2 loot tables, 1 item texture and 1 advancement.
No harmful code found in the parts we could check
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
One of its files for recent versions is not checked yet.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI was used for its text
The author declares AI text on Modrinth.
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files, images and sounds and found none.
We have not read its code history yet.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
Point at or tap a version to see its loaders.
Modpacks that include Fabled Roots in at least one of their versions, most downloaded first.
The newest file for each Minecraft version and loader. The files for recent versions come first. Recent versions: those released in the last 2 years, plus 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, among the most played in modpacks.
In the last 2 years, 6 releases needed a quick fix: a new release within 3 days to fix a problem. This lowers the grade by 3 points.
