MineBackup is a companion mod that connects Minecraft to the MineBackup desktop application or FolderRewind, letting players manage backups from in-game rather than switching to the desktop interface; it requires the desktop application to be running and KnotLink for communication. Its chat commands can back up the current world with an optional comment, restore a chosen or most recent backup, and manage backups for other folders tracked by the desktop application. Players can browse paginated backup histories in chat, where entries show timestamps and comments and offer clickable restore controls, and can use a configurable countdown to cancel or expedite a restore. The mod can schedule recurring backups or reminders, report backup progress and outcomes in chat, and save the world automatically before a live backup so it captures current progress. It also supports dedicated servers: restoring safely shuts the server down while the desktop application restores the files, then relaunches it through a configured start script. FolderRewind can also trigger the same restore flow from its own interface, keeping desktop and in-game backup management connected.
Written from Modrinth and the GitHub README . How we write it
Changes the game's code in 1 area: Server and world logicChanges 1 game code file in this area: the world, commands, scoreboards, saved data and game rules..
Adds no new blocks, items or other content.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends about you
We read its code without running it: it contacts 3 web addresses while you play.
Like any connection, each address it contacts sees your IP address.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI was used for its code
The author declares AI code on Modrinth.
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
We have not read its code history yet.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
Point at or tap a version to see its loaders.
Modpacks that include MineBackup in at least one of their versions, most downloaded first.
The newest file for each Minecraft version and loader. The files for recent versions come first. Recent versions: those released in the last 2 years, plus 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, among the most played in modpacks.
In the last 2 years, 2 releases needed a quick fix: a new release within 3 days to fix a problem. This counts in the grade, but it is too few to lose points.
