S.O.M (Story of Minecraft) is a resource pack that brings Minecraft’s different eras and spin-offs together in a more visually cohesive style, blending cues from classic Programmer Art and modern textures while treating elements such as Herobrine, the default skins, and even mob- and biome-vote losers as part of the wider world. It brightens grass and foliage colors toward the vivid palette of early Minecraft, and reshapes many item textures to better match their subjects and Minecraft’s square-edged art style. The pack also revises mob textures for lore accuracy and stylistic consistency, and gives weapons, tools, and armor distinct shapes and designs rather than relying on recolors. Other changes include animated furnace, torch, XP bottle, Eye of Ender, and crying obsidian textures; eating animations for food; reworked interfaces and effect icons; bushier, Dungeons-style leaves; and 3D cacti, dripstone, mushrooms, and a mace, while some formerly 3D items become 2D sprites. Some canonically glowing blocks receive emissive textures, some mobs have emissive details, and occasional special clouds add visual surprises; selected effects and interface features rely on compatible mods to display fully. Ominous blocks, items, and effects are retextured with white eyes, and the pack also includes toggleable features and alternate textures for customization. It includes compatibility textures for optional mods such as Friends&Foes, Subtle Effects, Falling Leaves, and Cherished Worlds, adapting examples like the Rascal and Wildfire, water and lava splashes, spruce leaves, and a redstone torch so they better fit the pack’s style.

No harmful code found
We checked what is inside its files, without opening them in the game.
Why we show this: a resource pack cannot run programs, but its file can hide one. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade.
Sends nothing
A resource pack has no code that can connect to the internet, so it cannot send anything about you.
No sign so far that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
We have not read its code history yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.

Modpacks that include S.O.M in at least one of their versions, most downloaded first.
The newest file for each Minecraft version and loader. The files for recent versions come first. Recent versions: those released in the last 2 years, plus 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, among the most played in modpacks.
In the last 2 years, 24 releases needed a quick fix: a new release within 3 days to fix a problem. This lowers the grade by 4 points.
