Zephyr Starlight is an experimental, work-in-progress Minecraft shaderpack that renders lighting with real-time path tracing. It path traces diffuse light, reflections and sunlight shadows, using accurate ray-geometry intersections and a sparse irradiance cache to approximate diffuse multi-bounce lighting. Its rendering features include a physically based sky, normal and specular mapping, temporal anti-aliasing, spatiotemporal denoising, and camera and post-processing effects such as motion blur, depth of field, auto exposure and chromatic aberration. Lighting quality and performance can be tuned through sample counts, diffuse denoising passes and irradiance-cache update intervals; higher settings can reduce noise or make lighting more responsive at additional performance cost. The shaderpack currently requires a labPBR resource pack to function properly, and its early-stage state means bugs, missing features and performance issues should be expected.
Written from Modrinth and the GitHub README . How we write it
Changes how the game looks: 81 shader programs, for the Overworld, the Nether and the End. Draws its own shadows, water, sky and weather.
Settings in English.
No harmful code found
We checked what is inside its files, without opening them in the game.
Why we show this: a shader cannot run programs, but its file can hide one. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade.
Sends nothing
A shader has no code that can connect to the internet, so it cannot send anything about you.
No sign so far that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
We have not read its code history yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
