Amethyst Nether is a Nether-overhaul mod and datapack that reshapes the dimension into a more cavernous landscape, with rivers, caves, and canyons, and adds new biomes alongside changes to familiar ones. Its biomes range from Black Peaks, with jagged blackstone spikes and amethyst geodes, and volcanic Basalt Flows and Nether Flows to ancient Old Growth Crimson and Warped Forests, sparse plains, and the toxic Sulfur Fields and Wart Heap. Caves feature their own biomes and terrain, including basalt and netherrack formations, quartz and amethyst geodes, and lava springs and lakes. Exploration also brings structures such as the three Grand Bastion variants, Bastion Castle, Bastion Gallery, and Bastion Prison, as well as the Red Fortress, a Nether-fortress-style complex with bridges and halls. Smaller discoveries include smoke-emitting basalt or blackstone vents, Soul Tombs, and trap-bearing Warped Ruins; upper caves can also contain loot-filled Cave Storage structures. The added creatures include biome-specific Ghosted Skeletons, spore-releasing Sporebacks, and explosive Volatile Sulfur Cubes, plus Grand Bastion piglins with swordsman, crossbowman, axeman, and rider variants and Red Fortress Wither Skeleton swordsmen. The toxic Sulfur Fields and Wart Heap require a gas mask for safe exploration, and piglins and hoglins that enter Wart Heap zombify, with some becoming Sporebacks. New craftable gear includes a gilded Netherite armor set and shield, while food additions such as Crimson Soup and Warped Stew bring Nether ingredients and distinct effects; players can also make throwable bombs and fungus-growing items. The project also changes ore distribution across the Nether, including ancient debris, glowstone, Nether gold, and quartz, and adds recipes such as crafting gunpowder from charcoal, bone meal, and potent sulfur. Because the project changes Nether world generation, it is intended for new worlds and is incompatible with other datapacks or mods that alter Nether generation, though additions focused on Nether structures can be compatible.
Written from Modrinth . How we write it
Does not change the game's code directly.
Adds 12 biomes, 4 structures, 15 recipes, 17 advancements and 52 loot tables.
Counted from the names and data files in the mod, so the list may not be complete.
Replaces 8 of vanilla Minecraft's world generation files.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.

Modpacks that include Amethyst Nether in at least one of their versions, most downloaded first.
The newest file for each Minecraft version and loader. The files for recent versions come first. Recent versions: those released in the last 2 years, plus 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, among the most played in modpacks.
In the last 2 years, 3 releases needed a quick fix: a new release within 3 days to fix a problem. This counts in the grade, but it is too few to lose points.
