BetterModel is a server-side engine for rendering and animating custom BlockBench models in Minecraft, allowing servers to show models on entities rather than relying only on their standard appearance. It reads BlockBench models and supports cubes, locators, null objects and meshes, with animation features including Molang keyframes, inverse-kinematics rigging and several interpolation styles. Animations can include built-in states such as idle, spawn, death, walk and jump, as well as per-player animation control. The engine can animate player models using a player's own skin without requiring model textures, and also supports custom armor. Model authors can define custom hitboxes that follow bone animation, along with model nametags and shadows. For server content workflows, BetterModel supports MythicMobs mechanics such as adding models to entities, playing or changing animations, tinting models and controlling bone visibility; it also supports using models with Citizens2 NPCs. It generates resource packs for its models and can merge or coordinate them with resource-pack tools including CraftEngine, Oraxen, ItemsAdder and Nexo. An extensible API lets developers create model or player-limb renderers and attach them to entities or locations, including for integrations with other server features.
Written from Modrinth and the GitHub README . How we write it
Changes the game's code in 3 areas, as a library other mods build on: Mobs and their behaviorChanges 2 game code files in this area: mobs, animals, villagers, projectiles and how they move and act., Networking and multiplayerChanges 1 game code file in this area: connections, the server list and what is sent between your game and a server. and Server and world logicChanges 1 game code file in this area: the world, commands, scoreboards, saved data and game rules..
Libraries packed inside it change 42 more game code files: adventure-platform-mod-shared, adventure-platform-mod-shared-fabric-repack, adventure-platform-fabric and 4 more.
Adds no new blocks, items or other content.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
Sends usage statistics
Sent to bstats.org.
Only some of its files send usage statistics.
We found this in its code, read without running it.
Its files for older Minecraft versions (1.20.3 to 1.20.4) also send your player name.
The author declares on Modrinth that it sends crash reports or usage data unless you turn this off.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI was used for its text
The author declares AI text on Modrinth.
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
We have not read its code history yet.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.

No known modpack uses it.
The newest file for each Minecraft version and loader. The files for recent versions come first. Recent versions: those released in the last 2 years, plus 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, among the most played in modpacks.
