Create Big Cannons: Going Ballistic changes Create: Big Cannons’ projectile-velocity calculation to use an updated version of Benjamin Robins’ 1742 cannon model, increasing projectile speed and extending the range of cannons and autocannons. The model accounts for projectile mass as well as powder and barrel measurements, so projectiles fired with the same powder charge can travel different distances; adding more powder gives diminishing returns, particularly in very large cannons. The mass assignments cover solid and AP shot; shrapnel, AP, HE, fluid, drop-mortar, smoke, and grapeshot shells; mortar stones; autocannon AP and flak shells; and machine-gun bullets, with lighter rounds generally receiving greater range under the same charge.
