About
Reactor Turbines adds an alternative way to generate power from IndustrialCraft 2 nuclear reactors, using reactor heat to drive turbines instead of the reactor's usual power output. The setup places a reactor beneath a 3-by-3 water layer, with five turbines arranged above it; placing the fifth turbine automatically encloses the assembly in glass, which can be replaced with other blocks. Their output scales with reactor heat, while greater heat also increases cooling, so fuel-rod placement affects both power production and stable operation. Water between the reactor and turbines evaporates and must be replenished, for example with BuildCraft pipes and flood gates or dispensers with water buckets. When all five turbines are installed in the correct positions, they take control of the reactor: normal reactor operation is disabled until the turbines are removed, and the reactor's heat-driven turbine system becomes its power source.
