Symbiote: A Bonding Experience adds an alien organism that lies dormant in meteorites and bonds with a nearby player, becoming a protective but demanding companion that cannot simply be removed. It comes in five strains: Predator, which thrives on hunting; Guardian, focused on defense; Shadow, stronger and more perceptive at night; Sculk, which senses and reveals nearby movement; and Royal, the most powerful and prone to contesting control. The relationship is shaped by bond, trust, stress, hunger, and mood: feeding it, meeting its requests, and fighting alongside it build trust, while neglect and pain can make it stressed and increasingly act on its own. Bond stages unlock greater abilities but also give the organism more influence, while low trust or high stress can make it ignore commands or seize control regardless of stage. A radial menu provides commands such as Protect Me, Hunt, and Hide, alongside a status panel for the symbiote’s strain, stage, mood, and meters. Its abilities include living armor, a tendril mantle for striking, grappling, hauling and mining, wall-clinging, pulling enemies or launching yourself, consuming nearby creatures, and building walls, bridges, or staircases from blocks assigned to its arm slots. As the bond develops, tendrils can swat threats or mine without being directed, and ignored requests may lead the symbiote to take over the player to hunt or pursue its own desires. The organism remembers shared experiences, expresses four moods through changes such as screen-edge effects and shifts in its voice, and can develop into a permanent late-stage identity shaped by the relationship. If the player dies, the symbiote can remain at the death site as a breathing mass holding the inventory, then rebond when the player returns. The bond begins at an impact crater, where the dormant symbiote sample has a modeled and animated appearance.
Written from Modrinth . How we write it
Does not change the game's code directly.
Adds:
Counted from the files of the mod. Content made only in its code is not counted.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI was used for its code
The author declares AI code on Modrinth.
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files, images and sounds and found none.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
