About
Running Red is a story-driven skyblock modpack about a character confronting their death, with a guided progression that follows the stages of grief and culminates in a major boss fight. Its central mechanic is Blood Altar infusion: ordinary crafting is reshaped so that even basic resources such as planks, dirt, and cobblestone require altar recipes, while the altar’s tiers represent the character’s movement from denial and anger through bargaining and depression to acceptance. Rather than relying on sieving for ores, players grow Ore Berries and smelt the harvested berries into ingots, and the pack also changes familiar recipes such as turning logs into Chopped Wood before altar processing can make planks. As progression advances, blood-fueled crafting produces tools and combat gear including the Bound Sword, advanced bows and arrows, and Bound Armour, before the final confrontation at the End. The pack’s symbolism and references draw in part on My Chemical Romance, especially The Black Parade, weaving its themes of death and letting go into the progression.
