Buddies! expands vanilla Minecraft with tameable pets and other wildlife, along with the food, care items, and habitats needed to keep and interact with them. Its creatures span reptiles and amphibians such as leopard geckos, bearded dragons, corn snakes, tortoises, and tree frogs; aquatic animals including 14 betta variants and four kinds of crab; and mammals such as rats, mice, ferrets, hedgehogs, chipmunks, squirrels, moles, boars, and bears. Their behaviors give the collection character: squirrels dig up acorns, moles dig through dirt, boars can be ridden once tamed and dig up budding truffles, and bears are neutral companions that can be leashed. Some animals have distinctive interactions, including mice serving as prey for snakes and ferrets, bettas laying eggs when fed Golden Fish Flakes, and rats accompanying the rare Rat King. Terrariums can be decorated or waterlogged, providing a way to house Buddies or use them as ornaments, while Animal Nets can capture non-tameable Buddies. The mod also enriches forest environments with fallen oak and birch logs, acorns, mushrooms, underbrush, and truffle colonies; underbrush slows passing entities and can be shaken to release insects, while truffle colonies gradually grow moss, mushrooms, and truffles. Banana trees grow naturally in jungles and provide bananas for recipes, while their bark supplies a green wood set; bananas are used in foods including honey-banana sandwiches. New foods include fangberry pie, twisted stew, and golden truffles, and the Pet Trader villager profession offers many Buddies and pet foods for sale.
Written from CurseForge . How we write it
Does not change the game's code directly.
Adds 50 blocks, 152 items, 61 entities, 80 recipes and 11 loot tables.
Counted from the names and data files in the mod, so the list may not be complete.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
