    About

    Caves+: The Frozen Caves adds a cold underground biome to the Overworld, typically beneath colder coastal and inland areas, with Frosted Stone, icy floors and ceiling icicles. The biome has smaller groups of zombies, creepers and skeletons, while spiders do not spawn there; creeper blasts can dislodge icicles that damage mobs they hit. Uncommon Permafrost Gems can be made into ingots and then into Freeze blocks, which immobilize entities standing on them when activated by redstone; emeralds are also found rarely in the caves. The rarer Cold Dungeon is a labyrinth of chests and stray spawners, with a central Permafrost Safe that requires a Permafrost Key and can contain a new armor trim and music disc. Explorer maps to Cold Dungeons can be found in igloos, and the dungeon is home to Endonova, a boss that casts Slowness spells and summons Strays. When Endonova is reduced to around half health, the boss enters a second phase and regenerates its health; defeating it awards a Permafrost Key and the Staff of Endonova.
