About
Cherry Blossom Grotto expands the Overworld with Japanese-inspired cherry blossom landscapes, villages, structures, creatures, and themed items. Its Cherry Blossom Grotto is a forested biome, joined by snowy Cherry Blossom Slopes with hot springs and a bamboo jungle interspersed with blossom trees; these biomes have sparse iron ore. Cherry blossom trees come in standard, fancy, and grand forms, with distinctive trunks and canopies, new wood and leaves, and petal piles that form beneath the trees and can be harvested for crafting or pink dye. Cherry blossom biomes have their own rare village style, with distinct buildings, robed villagers, and meeting points that may include koi ponds; koi are otherwise found only in these villages and have variable patterns. The world also generates torii gates, giant Buddha statues, and ruined portals styled as torii gates, while hot springs appear in the snowy slopes. A passive tanooki creature may snatch unattended items it finds interesting, and the mod adds koi fish alongside it. The themed equipment includes katanas that can be strengthened with iron, as well as kunai and shuriken throwing weapons; Kabuto armor boosts katana attacks when worn as a full set, while a full Ninja set grants double jumping. Players can grow rice in shallow water and use it to make onigiri, and can furnish builds with shoji screens, hidden trapdoors, zen lanterns, and tatami mats. Optional beta biomes add red-leaved maple woods and mixed oak-and-maple forests, with maple trees that shed harvestable leaves and a matching set of wood blocks. Another added region, the Stone Forest, is a dense jungle of moss-covered rock pillars, where the Great Wall dungeon combines traps and treasure with terracotta warrior statues and hostile terracotta warrior entities.
