    About

    Creaking Forest adds an explorable dimension centered on a dangerous forest, its creatures, and a boss encounter. In the Pale Garden, Creakings emerge after dark and attack when unobserved; the three known kinds include a nimble, long-armed variant and a taller type controlled by a Creaking Heart. Ordinary attacks do not harm Creakings: follow their cues to locate the controlling heart, then destroy it to stop them. A hidden structure beneath an ancient stump reveals how to open a portal by placing Creaking Hearts at the corners of a square. Before entering, players can cut orange roots near the portal and combine them with Creaking Hearts to craft boots; the roots dry out if left in the inventory too long. The dimension’s contamination can be reduced by standing briefly on its roots while wearing the boots, though staying too long is hazardous. Its environments include desolate biomes with amber-bearing dead trees, which attract amber dragonflies that guard the amber and may stash dropped items inside it. Pale Crystals can be used with amber to craft a Block of Keeping, which preserves a player’s belongings on death. The dimension also contains Locators, which produce a loud warning when nearby and not in view; players must avoid them while exploring. To confront the dimension’s beast, trace a large tree from its crown down to a root maze, find the amber room, and destroy the heart on the creature’s back.
