Glowroot adds a glowing underground biome inspired by the glow squid, expanding the creature’s lore with an explorable cave environment and traces of an ancient civilization’s experiments with light and underground energy. The Glowroot Caves generate in the Overworld, often beneath ordinary biomes or oceans, with vivid Glowroot Stone, luminous Glowrooted Stone, hanging Glowroot Vines, flowers, grasses, mushrooms, scattered pools, and naturally occurring Chrysoprase crystals. The caves are inhabited by four distinctive mobs: tameable, rideable Glowroot Golems that can mine blocks when fitted with a drill; hostile Glowroot Zombies that dazzle players and explode when killed; flying Glowroot Quadcopters that attack with Glowbangs; and Glowroot Hermits that snare players with their claws. Glowroot’s crafting and progression center on Chrysoprase, a light-derived crystal obtained from cave deposits or generated by feeding cave flora into a Glowroot Node, which converts accumulated node-power into crystals and experience. Players can use forging and smelting to refine impure materials and make specialized mining and exploration equipment, including helmets, flashlights, cannons, a jetpack, and prisms. Chrysoprase Dust also activates Glowroot Runes and can power or enhance other creations, while the Glowroot Machine provides a route into forging. Dazzling, inspired by the glow squid’s proposed hypnotic effect, overlays the player’s view in aquamarine and can temporarily disable other mobs’ AI; its visual intensity can be adjusted with a game rule. The biome also has its own eerie ambient sounds, contrasting with its bright glowing flora.
Written from Modrinth . How we write it
Does not change the game's code directly.
Adds 168 blocks, 47 items, 6 mobs, 1 other entity, 1 biome, 1 enchantment, 174 recipes, 15 advancements, 1 loot table, 25 sounds and 1 key binding.
Counted from the names and data files in the mod, so the list may not be complete.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign so far that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files, images and sounds and found none.
We have not read its code history yet.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
