    About

    Modern Chickens combines the classic Chickens and Roost gameplay into a breeding-driven resource automation mod: collect basic breeds, inspect Growth, Gain, and Strength with an Analyzer, and cross chickens in a Breeder to unlock higher tiers. Chickens produce resources passively in Roosts, while Collectors, hoppers, and item pipes move drops into storage; Henhouses, Nests, Roosters, and an Incubator help scale and automate production. The roster includes resource breeds for materials such as amethyst shards, Nether Stars, Dragon Eggs, and modded ingots, with additional chickens generated for registered fluids and, when Mekanism is present, chemicals and gases. Fluid and Chemical Converters crack resource eggs into buffered contents and feed nearby tanks, pipes, or machines, while the Avian Dousing Machine uses a Smart Chicken, a matching reagent, and RF to create a spawn egg for the corresponding fluid or chemical breed. For energy production, Redstone Flux Chickens lay Flux Eggs that the Avian Flux Converter processes into stored RF for adjacent machines or batteries. Dragon and Wither Chickens are special breeds made by infusing Obsidian or Soul Sand Chickens with Dragon's Breath or Nether Stars in the powered Dousing Machine; they then produce Dragon Eggs or Nether Stars for automated collection. Roosters do not lay eggs: they fertilize nearby hens when supplied with seeds, and a rooster placed with seeds in a Nest provides an aura that boosts nearby Roost production. The roster, breeding relationships, drops, textures, and spawning behavior are data-driven, and configuration options let pack makers tune production, breeding, and natural spawns or define custom chickens without recompiling the mod. An optional Mekanism integration adds chemical and gas breeds and connects radioactive content to Mekanism's radiation system, while the core breeding and Roost gameplay works without that integration.
