Modern Companions adds recruitable human followers who form a growing party, with 14 core roles ranging from shielded Vanguards and fast Scouts to healing Clerics, potion-using Alchemists, and Necromancers that summon allied wither skeletons. Optional companions expand the roster with nine magic specialists when Iron’s Spellbooks or Ars Nouveau is installed, while TacZ adds firearm specialists for pistols, SMGs, rifles, shotguns, snipers, machine guns, and heavy weapons. Companion houses generate across the Overworld, where players can hire a resident by providing the two requested stacks of food or resources, then issue orders such as Follow, Patrol, Guard, Alert, Hunting, and Pickup. Followers can be equipped with armor, weapons, tools, shields, torches, or lanterns, and their inventories support automatic equipment selection alongside manual gear management. Companions earn experience from kills and can level without a cap; Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Endurance shape attributes such as combat ability, speed, health, and defense. Their traits, backstories, Morale, Bond, age, favorite foods, and journey records give each follower a persistent personality, while 295 bundled skins provide varied appearances that can age visually over time. Craftable weapons include daggers, clubs, hammers, spears, quarterstaves, and glaives, and reusable-vessel potions can restore health, stamina, or mana, heal over time, or grant temporary armor. The Companion Mover stores a follower in a Soul Gem while preserving identity, stats, equipment, inventory, and personality, and the Summoning Wand recalls living companions and Beastmaster pets to the owner in the current dimension. Optional Curios and Sophisticated Backpacks support adds accessory slots and backpack storage, while optional magic and firearm companions use the spell systems or shooting, ammunition, and reload behavior of their respective mods.

No harmful code found in the parts we could check
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
One of its files for recent versions is not checked yet.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends about you, in the 1 of its 2 files we read
We read its code without running it: it contacts 1 web address while you play.
Like any connection, each address it contacts sees your IP address.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI was used for its code and assets
The author declares AI code and assets on Modrinth.
We looked for AI tools in its description, files, images and sounds and found none.
We have not read its changelogs and code history yet.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
