    About

    Scary MineShafts Sounds (SMSS) is a horror mod that makes cave exploration unsettling through sound rather than visible monsters or jump scares. It replaces peaceful ambient tracks with distorted low-frequency drones and industrial hums, and adds faint, unintelligible whispers that can make players feel watched even in well-lit areas. Randomized sounds such as distant scratching, heavy breathing, and metallic clangs disrupt predictable audio cues, using stretches of silence and uncertainty to build tension without adding entities that can attack the player. The mod can be paired with Hardcore Darkness for a more visually obscured horror experience.
