Old-school looks and feel with newer blocks and items.
Modpacks get no grade of their own, so we show the grades of its mods. Of its 18 graded mods, 12 are graded A or B, 1 C and 5 D to F. Its last update came out 11 months ago, for Minecraft 1.21.1. See the mods
Old School Minecraft is a modpack for bringing back the look and feel of Minecraft’s Alpha and Beta eras while retaining newer features and items. It restores classic-style menus and chests, old animations, terrain, lighting, sunsets, and a Beta-inspired HUD. World generation can be set to historical styles such as Beta, Indev, or Alpha, with Xbox 360-style terrain also available. Players can tailor the experience by disabling XP or hunger, choosing 2D rather than 3D item displays, and turning off the default creative-mode items. Other retro touches include minecart boosters, gaps in ladders, and an older debug menu that displays mob IDs.
Written from Modrinth . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.21.1 · Fabric, 7 Dec 2025). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
No harmful code found in its mods
We checked all 19 mods and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
Its mods send nothing about you
We read the code of all 19 of its mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make its mods
We found no AI tool in the 19 mods we checked, and no AI content is declared for them on Modrinth.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and found none.
We have not read its files and images yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
