    About

    Ancient Manuscripts lets players recover torn pages from lost magical tomes and bind them into enchanted books, giving them more control over the enchantments they obtain. Pages can be discovered in chests across the world or acquired from experienced librarian villagers and wandering traders, while witches may drop them as well. To bind a book, players craft a Binding Table and make reusable enchanted-book glue, then combine a book, glue, and manuscript pages at the table. Adding one to four pages sets the result's rarity from Common through Very Rare, while the enchantment and its level are randomly selected; a diamond can guarantee the highest available level for levelled enchantments. Binding takes time, consumes glue in proportion to the pages used, and shows progress at the table; the glue bottle is returned when its contents run out and can be refilled by crafting more glue. Configuration options let players control enchantment selection, including whether to allow curses, treasure enchantments, or enchantments from other mods, and a blacklist can exclude specific enchantments from this recipe. The mod also supports substituting manuscript-page items through a data pack, and Binding Tables made from different wood types have matching appearances while working identically.
