    About

    Better Fishing makes angling more involved with a reeling challenge: balance the line against a fish’s pull, using the on-screen indicator and the Reel In or Reel Out controls before bringing it in. Its eight fish species have distinct sizes, speeds, intelligence, rarity, habitats and activity patterns; examples include saltwater tuna, freshwater catfish and trout, and salmon that can live in either saltwater or freshwater. Fish populations vary by location and environmental conditions such as water type and quality, and fish may bite at different rates depending on local population; overfishing depletes an area until fish migrate back, while a Fish Tracker reports nearby populations. Time of day and rain also affect which fish are available, and bait can target a particular species or reduce the wait for a bite in general. Caught fish have individually varying weights and can be sliced into portions, with larger fish yielding more; slices can be eaten or processed into fish oil and cooked in a Fish Oven. The mod also includes basic, iron and diamond fishing rods with different resistance to fish tugging and reeling reach, plus a fish bucket that can store catches and show their combined weight.
