About
Better Fishtanks adds functional aquariums and fish-keeping systems for vanilla and modded fish, focusing on tanks and their management rather than introducing new fish of its own. Fish Bags let you catch and transport compatible fish, then release them into tanks, while a Random Fish Bag can provide a surprise vanilla fish. Aquariums can be decorated with stones, branches, shipwreck pieces, towers, caves, amethysts, corals, sea pickles, kelp, and seagrass; compatible decorations from Upgrade Aquatic and Hybrid Aquatic are also supported. When feeding is enabled, fish need food to survive, and containers for flakes, dried kelp, mini-shrimp, or pellets provide a more convenient way to keep them fed. Tanks passively produce fish eggs in six rarity tiers, which players can crack for loot at the Aquarist's Table, the crafting station for fish-keeping supplies, food, and decorations. Mini-shrimp can be caught and cooked, while pellet mix is another craftable food option for fish. An Aquarist villager trades fish-keeping supplies and can be assigned to the profession by placing an Aquarist's Table near an unemployed villager. The tanks and table support item and fluid automation through pipes, and tanks can also be filled with lava for Nether Depths Upgrade integration. Configuration options include disabling food requirements, choosing how tank water levels are displayed, enabling capture of certain specialized mobs, and changing the tank water-rendering mode.
