About
Chickens adds resource-producing chickens to Minecraft, letting players breed specialized birds instead of relying only on ordinary egg-laying chickens. Naturally spawning breeds include Flint, Snowball, Gunpowder, Nether Quartz and Lava chickens, while crossbreeding can produce higher-tier varieties such as Diamond and Ghast Tear chickens. Players can also make colored breeds, including Lapis Lazuli, Cactus Green, Rose Red and Bone Meal chickens, and breed them to obtain further colors. Each chicken has growth, gain and strength stats that affect how quickly it grows, lays eggs and reproduces, how many items it produces, and how its stats carry over to offspring; breeding same-breed chickens can improve their stats. A chicken analyzer, crafted from an egg and a compass, reveals a chicken's stats and other information. The henhouse gathers chicken products within a 9-by-9 area when supplied with hay bales, and gradually produces dirt as a by-product; a vanilla chicken given a book can operate one. The mod also provides lava and water eggs as renewable, stackable liquid sources, and lets players customize laying rates, items, drops, breeding and which chickens are enabled. JEI can display breeding and laying recipes, while WAILA can show chicken tiers.
