About
Middle-earth brings Tolkien’s legendarium into Minecraft as an exploration and faction-based adventure set in a custom dimension, where players choose a faction, race, and starting location and face the hostility of opposing peoples. Its world includes 248 biomes, custom terrain and caves, settlements and faction-linked structures, with named examples such as the Woodland Realm Hall and Mirkwood Spider Nests. The factions include Dale, Gondor, Isengard, Rohan, Lothlórien, Longbeards, Misty Mountains Goblins, Mordor, and the Shire, alongside additions such as Moria Orcs, Goblin Town, Dol Guldur, and the Woodland Realm. Faction and race choices shape play: races have distinct perks, opposing faction creatures and NPCs are naturally aggressive, and faction affiliation determines which side’s weapons and armor the player can craft. Players can outfit themselves with extensive equipment, including daggers, long swords, spears, battleaxes, bows, shields, and faction-specific armor; crafting uses systems such as the Artisan Table and smithing. The world is populated by creatures ranging from deer, geese, and snails to Barrow-wights, Mirkwood spiders, and trolls; some monsters have distinctive behavior, such as stone trolls gradually petrifying in sunlight and snow trolls hurling blocks. Other activities and discoveries include mounts such as Broadhoof goats, gems and inscriptions for enchanting, and trial dungeons including Brigand Dungeons and Mirkwood Spider Nests. The mod remains a prototype with core features still missing, so its available content may change as development continues.
