Lithium is a general-purpose Minecraft optimization mod that improves performance while preserving vanilla gameplay behavior rather than changing game mechanics or visuals. Its optimizations cover systems including entity collisions and game physics, mob AI, world generation, chunk loading, block ticking and redstone, explosions, and data tracking. Examples include reducing collision checks for moving entities, avoiding constant polling in some mob AI tasks, cutting unnecessary world-generation calculations, and making redstone wire updates and TNT explosions less costly. It also reduces overhead from mob cramming and block ticking, and can skip ticks for idle hoppers, shulker boxes, campfires, furnaces, and brewing stands. These changes can improve tick times and help servers handle more loaded entities, chunks, and players; in single-player, optimizing the integrated server can free processor time and improve responsiveness and frame rates. Lithium can run on either the client or server without requiring it on both, and its configurable patches can be disabled individually to address compatibility problems.
Written from Modrinth , CurseForge and the GitHub README . How we write it
Changes the game's code in 8 areas: Mobs and their behaviorChanges 62 game code files in this area: mobs, animals, villagers, projectiles and how they move and act., Blocks and fluidsChanges 36 game code files in this area: how blocks, fluids and redstone work., Game coreChanges 22 game code files in this area: the main loop, lighting and other code the whole game uses., Server and world logicChanges 17 game code files in this area: the world, commands, scoreboards, saved data and game rules., Chunk loading and storageChanges 11 game code files in this area: how the game loads, tracks, saves and unloads chunks., Inventory and itemsChanges 8 game code files in this area: items, chests and other containers, crafting and enchanting., World generationChanges 4 game code files in this area: terrain, biomes and structures made when new land is created. and Networking and multiplayerChanges 1 game code file in this area: connections, the server list and what is sent between your game and a server..
Adds no new blocks, items or other content.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files, images, code history and pull requests and found none.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.

These projects do not work together with Lithium: their authors or Lithium's author say so. If you install both, the game can crash or some features can stop working. Some of them do the same job as Lithium, so you only need one.

More modpacks put it in their new versions than a year ago: 2,647 a month now, 1,548 a year agoThe average of the last 6 months, compared with the same 6 months a year before. We say it only when the change is large..
27,352 modpacks include Lithium in at least one of their versions. Here are the 30 most downloaded.
Mods that modpacks often add together with Lithium. Share: how many of the modpacks with Lithium also have that mod.
The newest file for each Minecraft version and loader. The files for recent versions come first. Recent versions: those released in the last 2 years, plus 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, among the most played in modpacks.
In the last 2 years, 5 releases needed a quick fix: a new release within 3 days to fix a problem. This counts in the grade, but it is too few to lose points.
