    About

    The Forgotten is a horror mod that builds unease gradually through player-specific tension, unsettling sounds, distant figures, and small changes to the world rather than relying mainly on sudden scares. Tension rises when you are underground, in darkness, or alone, and falls in safer, well-lit places; as it grows, events such as nearby footsteps and block-breaking, deceptive chat messages, and sightings become more frequent. Apparitions appear as silent watchers, sometimes wearing other players’ skins, and vanish when you look at them; in caves or the trial dimension, some can charge and hurt you. Other threats include the invisible Tormentor, which slowly digs through cave stone toward you, and brief world anomalies such as misplaced torches, crafting tables, chests with notes, ground cracks, and unusual stone patterns that later disappear. An optional trial begins when clues lead you to a hidden underground entrance, sending you into a maze of corridors where you must find three buttons while facing aggressive apparitions; completing it permanently ends the mod’s effects for your player. You can toggle individual features and adjust tension, event timing, and trial settings, allowing the horror experience to be tailored to your preferences.
