    About

    Wayfinder adds an ancient, pet-like companion that helps players find biomes through an in-world exploration journey. Players summon one by offering emeralds at shrines found in villages, then use its interface to choose a biome in the current dimension and start a search; if the destination is not within 10,000 blocks, the Wayfinder cannot locate it. During a journey, the Wayfinder can teleport back if it gets too far from its owner, and the trip can be cancelled or followed by another search after a short cooldown. Projectile-attacking mobs such as skeletons, pillagers, and witches can frighten the Wayfinder and halt its journey until the nearby threat is dealt with; when hurt, it blocks the next two instances of damage with a shield, and glowberries restore its health. A dead Wayfinder can be summoned again at a shrine, with the emerald cost increasing on successive resummons up to 64.
