Fewer distant creatures and cosmetic particles when scenes get busy.

GpuShift is a client-side optimization mod that adaptively budgets some rendering work in scenes where many distant living entities or cosmetic particles can burden the client. Under render pressure, it can skip rendering some distant non-player living entities while protecting players, named or glowing entities, and nearby entities, and it can limit newly spawned cosmetic particles according to a configurable budget. An optional FPS and frame-time overlay shows when entity or particle work is being skipped, and the mod includes an in-game settings screen. GpuShift detects Sodium and Embeddium and uses conservative shader assistance with Oculus- or Iris-style setups; it also protects weather particles used by Pretty Rain and tooltip preview entities used by Tooltip Overhaul. It targets client rendering rather than server performance, mob AI, world generation, chunk loading, networking, or memory use, and may have little effect when those are the bottlenecks or when there is little entity or particle rendering to budget.
Written from Modrinth and CurseForge . How we write it
Changes the game's code in 1 area: Rendering and graphicsChanges 8 game code files in this area: drawing mobs, items, particles and textures on screen..
Adds 2 key bindings: Open GpuShift Settings and Toggle GpuShift Overlay.
Counted from the names and data files in the mod, so the list may not be complete.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.

These projects do not work together with GpuShift: their authors or GpuShift's author say so. If you install both, the game can crash or some features can stop working. Some of them do the same job as GpuShift, so you only need one.
