    About

    Simplex Terrain Generation is a customizable world-generation mod that replaces standard terrain with expansive, height-spanning landscapes while aiming to generate them quickly. Its simplex-noise heightmap shapes both the land and biome placement, with ocean and beach bands at lower elevations and higher regions that generally become colder as altitude increases. The resulting landscapes can include tall ridged mountains, curving rivers, snowy river deltas, and savannas. Configuration lets players adjust terrain and biome parameters, including region heights, biome scale, temperature and humidity, and the noise modifiers that shape the land. Players can choose among five noise generators: simplex for fast, varied terrain; Perlin for somewhat flatter landscapes; cubic for smoother terrain; Worley for distinctive cellular hills and valleys; and value noise for mostly flat ground with sloping cliffs. Optional post-processors can add large, interconnected Simplex Caves, erosion that cuts exposed areas into the land, and rock strata that divide the world into distinct layers. Threaded noise generation can use multiple processor cores to speed up terrain creation, and configuration also includes compatibility options for Winter Biomes Mod, Traverse, and Terrestria.
