The Broken Script is a slow-burn, story-focused horror mod that extends vanilla Minecraft with an ARG-style narrative told through in-game dialogue, written clues, and elements beyond the game. Its world changes over time through random events: the moon can become progressively corrupted, familiar day and night behavior can be disrupted, and eerie sounds may signal that something has appeared nearby. Randomly appearing structures range from single-block oddities to large bases, and can be helpful, harmless, deceptive, or dangerous; some replace terrain, contain portals, or lead players into other dimensions. The added dimensions include Nowhere, with its descending mud-and-vine-like layers, and Clan Void, whose shifting layers include open fields, wooden rooms, a cobblestone maze, and house-like spaces where a pursuing entity may attack. The mod also alters the feel of exploration with old-style cave generation and aged pre-1.14 textures and sounds, changes that can be adjusted or disabled through configuration. Story objects include books and other lore-bearing items, alongside music discs such as the different versions of “Instability” and “Lilly’s Theme,” which connect to the mod’s boss fights and narrative events. The experience includes intense horror content, including graphic violence, blood, suicide and self-harm themes, as well as possible flashing patterns, startling sounds, crashes, fake warning windows, and changes to the game world.

No harmful code found
We checked its files without running them.
The author declares on Modrinth that this mod interacts with your system outside the game.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
api.mojang.com sessionserver.mojang.com Minecraft and Microsoft account servicesgit.thebrokenscript.net Purpose not knownWe have not read its code yet
The file checks found code that connects to the internet (see Security). What it sends is not known yet.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files, images, sounds and code history and found none.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.

These projects do not work together with The Broken Script: their authors or The Broken Script's author say so. If you install both, the game can crash or some features can stop working. Some of them do the same job as The Broken Script, so you only need one.
