    About

    Vestiges of the Present adds challenges from a powerful, mysterious being, with lore progression revealing the creature and its rewards as players advance. Challenges are designed to work with other mods in a modpack, giving players reasons to progress through both powerful and less useful or more time-consuming content, and rewarding completion with unique Vestiges for combat and other capabilities. The mod also introduces mechanics including negative enchantments, anti-healing, heal debt, shields, and overhealing. Mystery Chests can drop by chance when players earn an advancement or complete a challenge. In Cruel Mode, bosses from any mod receive greatly increased health and damage, armor, damage reduction, and healing over time; shields and overshields protect them from damage as well. Cruel Mode also makes starvation and drowning damage unblockable and gives mobs a chance to spawn empowered, while its boss settings and boss list can be configured. Mob and boss drops can provide access to negative enchantments and enchantments beyond their usual limits, and the mod includes accessories that grant bonuses. Other additions include random-content boxes and a Void Vortex that can make any item unbreakable; many settings can be changed in the mod's configuration. A global leaderboard is available across single-player worlds and servers, though the official description says the leaderboard is currently frozen.
