Bits and Balance is a highly configurable collection of more than 100 small additions and adjustments intended to expand gameplay, rebalance parts of Minecraft, and smooth everyday play. Its world and building content includes azalea wood, large coal and Nether ore veins, ores embedded in different stone types, a kiln that smelts materials faster than a furnace, and combinable steps, vertical steps, vertical slabs, and mixed slabs. Exploration and combat change through hostile mobs gaining gear based on how deep they spawn, cave spiders appearing underground, phantoms carrying players, and snowballs that damage and freeze targets; the mod also adds protections against one-hit kills and options for retaining experience after death. New brews and effects include potions for Haste, Levitation, Glowing, and Bioluminescence, plus Displacement for random nearby teleportation, Resurfacing for travel to the surface, and Returning for travel to your latest death location; some of these potions can also appear in structure loot. Practical gameplay changes include quick crop harvesting, waterlogging blocks such as doors and pressure plates, pistons moving supported containers without losing their contents, leashed mobs teleporting with you, villagers following emeralds, and paired doors opening together. Building and crafting receive further tweaks, including recipes for chests from logs and maps using black dye, stonecutter options for turning wood into building blocks, mixed slabs, and the ability to hang lanterns and signs beneath slabs. Quality-of-life additions include automatic restocking of blocks and replacement tools, a compass that can point toward a chosen destination, and a recovery compass that can guide you back to your last death spot. Client-side conveniences and presentation touches include biome titles, biome-tinted foliage items, chat player heads, auto-walking, a progress ticker while using an item, and copying screenshots to the clipboard. The mod also adjusts familiar rules with features such as more durable-feeling Elytra wear based on distance flown, altered Mending costs, edible food even at full hunger, and limits on villager trade discounts.

No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
bitsandbalance-neoforge-2.1.1.jar, CurseForge bitsandbalance-neoforge-2.1.1.jar. 2 classes changed, 1 class only in the Modrinth file, in org.onenonly.bitsandbalance: ScreenshotClipboardClient, ScreenshotClipboardMixin, ScreenshotClipboardAwtMixin (Modrinth only). We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign so far that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files, images and sounds and found none.
We have not read its code history yet.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.

The newest file for each Minecraft version and loader. The files for recent versions come first. Recent versions: those released in the last 2 years, plus 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, among the most played in modpacks.
In the last 2 years, 40 releases needed a quick fix: a new release within 3 days to fix a problem. This lowers the grade by 7 points.
