About
Cthulhu Fishing expands Minecraft fishing into a Cthulhu-themed hunt for unusual fish, relics, and valuable rewards. Its special catches include crimson fish, found with a lure and the Ritual Bleeding effect; sculk fish, caught in the Deep Dark; mushroom fish, caught in mushroom biomes; and frozen fish, caught in frozen oceans. A Cthulhu altar gives fishing orders and lets players obtain relics, while the Third Eye reveals a revelation-level meter and can also be used to create the altar. Relics trigger a dangerous encounter: they strengthen nearby hostile creatures and impose the Ancient Curse, and players must feed them six Abyss Reagents earned from defeating those creatures to receive more reagents for trading with the Abyss Merchant. The mod adds three major boss challenges: the Greatest Obsessed Eye, summoned through an obelisk after Cthulhu adepts visit it over successive nights; the Fossil Fish, lured with a heavy fishing rod and mushroom fish in deep caves; and the Frozen Crab, summoned with that rod and frozen fish in frozen oceans. Fishing-specific enchantments improve the odds of catching modified fish, with Crimson Catcher, Sculk Catcher, Mushroom Catcher, and Frozen Catcher each suited to a different fish type. Rewards include revelation-enhancing rings and equipment, weapons whose damage scales with revelation, a grimoire that creates damaging Cthulhu tentacles, and an Obsessed Eye Staff that summons creatures to fight for you. Boss loot and Abyss Merchant trades also provide specialized gear, including armor that can gain protection based on hunger, summoning-focused rings, and a Frozen Crab necklace that prevents freezing.
