About
Monsters&Girls: Secrets of Mermaids is a spin-off focused on mermaids and other aquatic creatures, with designs and behaviors inspired by real fish. Its two mermaid species are the aggressive Abyssal Mermaid, found in deep oceans, and the passive Tropical Pygmy Mermaid, found in warm oceans; both can be tamed, but neither follows its owner or walks on land. Abyssal Mermaids attack underwater mobs and grow luminous as they eat; when full, they stop attacking most creatures, and striking one can make it regurgitate items. Tropical Pygmy Mermaids can search nearby blocks for pearls and gems when given raw fish, providing materials for decorative blocks and equipment. The mod also adds Crab Girls, which can emerge when sand is broken on non-snowy beaches, regenerate by shedding their shells, and dance near a jukebox when they are set to stay; their shells can be made into armor. A Pearl Shovel increases the chance of uncovering a Crab Girl on a beach, while pearls can also be used to craft the Depth Slasher sword, which deals extra damage when its wielder is wet, and the Deep Digger pickaxe, which grants Haste II underwater. Another addition is the neutral Microspinus, a river- and swamp-dwelling creature that hunts cod and salmon; when fed cooked cod, it lays an egg that can hatch after about three minutes. The gallery also describes a guidebook and easter-egg skins, including a black clownfish mermaid that gains a beret and scarf when named Mimi or Mime.
