About
Mystcraft brings the book-based world travel of the Myst series to Minecraft, letting players write and explore other dimensions called Ages for adventure, settlement, or resources. Players shape an Age by writing symbol pages into a Descriptive Book; the symbols determine features such as terrain and biomes, and Ages can range from standard terrain to caves or flat worlds, with unusual features such as lava seas and glowstone crystal formations. Ages may be beautiful and safe or unstable and dangerous: decay can consume the landscape, exposed players may suffer potion effects, and falling meteors can cause destruction. Travel is deliberately risky because using a Descriptive or Linking Book leaves it behind, so players need another book or a naturally generated Star Fissure to return; unstable Ages can also leave travelers stranded. Writing Desks and Notebooks help players collect and organize discovered symbols, while book stands and lecterns hold travel books for convenient use. Mystcraft Crystal blocks can form portals that link through a book receptacle, allowing entities that collide with the portal to travel to the book's destination.
