About
Old Guns adds antique black-powder firearms and artillery, spanning matchlock, wheellock, flintlock, caplock, and rimfire mechanisms, alongside weapons such as derringers, pistols, carbines, muskets, and blunderbusses. Its heavier ordnance includes naval guns, field cannons, and rockets, and field cannons can be packed and unpacked for maneuvering. Firearms have distinct trade-offs: pistols are quick and can be dual-wielded, carbines balance handling and power, while larger guns hit harder but take longer to draw and may slow movement. Reloading varies by weapon: most guns are loaded through the crafting menu, multi-barreled designs trade longer preparation for more shots, and breech-loaders reload in a crossbow-like manner using ammunition and powder from the player's inventory. Mechanism type also affects reliability in wet conditions, with matchlocks especially vulnerable and needlefire weapons able to fire in any conditions. Weapons wear down and may misfire in fair condition or worse, or explode when in poor condition; repair kits and salvaged parts can restore them. Players can discover designs for exotic weapons, including Duckfoot pistols, musketoons, and Nock Guns, in dungeons, shipwrecks, and villages. The mod also supports making guns and parts through smelting and crafting, with a gunsmith's bench used to craft firearms and artillery.
