    About

    Photonics is an Iris extension that brings voxel-based ray tracing to Minecraft shaders, with an emphasis on performance. It adds soft, crisp shadows from block lights and global illumination that brightens areas otherwise left in shadow, including light contributed by the sky. Colored light passing through glass can tint illumination and cast colored shadows, while light sources in either hand can illuminate nearby surroundings. Its tracing can render 16×16×16 block models, including custom models made with MagicaVoxel, and it supports up to 20 lights per chunk by default, configurable up to 100 through shader settings. Photonics works with shader packs that support it, including Euphoria Patches, Photon, Eclipse, Shrimple, and patched versions of BSL.
