    About

    Truly Dark is a client-side lighting mod that makes Minecraft’s dark places and nighttime feel genuinely dark, so torches and other light sources matter more. It darkens unlit caves and block shadows, and adjusts the Overworld sky dome, horizon fog, clouds, and the visibility and light of the sun, moon, and stars together. Darkness responds to moon phase and weather: a full moon can still provide light, while a new-moon midnight is much darker. Three presets range from dark caves with unchanged night skies, through a reduced-brightness option, to near-pitch-black caves and nights where moonlight is ignored. You can fine-tune the darkness of each sky layer and Nether or End fog independently, toggle effects by dimension, and exclude biomes with custom cave lighting. The mod changes rendering rather than gameplay, adds no mobs or events, and lets each player experience their own darkness in multiplayer.
