Villagers: Far From Home adds a gameplay-focused way to take a villager along on your travels, with the villager walking beside you rather than being carried or leashed. First trade with a villager until they reach Journeyman level, then offer an emerald with a shift-right-click to have them follow you. Shift-right-click again without an emerald to stop them following; they may also tire and start walking home if the journey takes too long. If they stop following from fatigue, offering another emerald with a shift-right-click can persuade them to continue.
