Backrooms: Found Footage is a more stable version of the Minecraft Backrooms Found Footage mod, with gameplay improvements, built around exploring the Backrooms after triggering entry by suffocating beneath blocks such as sand or gravel. The journey spans procedurally generated, effectively endless levels, including Level 0’s disorienting yellow corridors, Level 1’s foggy concrete parking garage, Level 2’s stark industrial tunnel, the tiled and water-filled Poolrooms, and the quiet grasslands of the Infinite Field. Players navigate these environments to find exits, usually stairs, while managing limited visibility, disorientation, and the risks that differ from level to level. Threats include Skinwalkers, which can imitate a player’s appearance, voice, and movements before turning hostile, and Smilers that emerge in darkness, including during blackouts in Level 1. Environmental events add further tension, from sudden blackouts and distorted intercom messages to unsettling ambience, tunnel warping, and changing conditions in the Poolrooms, where water can become mildly acidic around dawn and dusk. Flashlights are an important navigation tool in most levels, but fail in the Poolrooms, and crates in Levels 0 and 1 can contain Backshrooms or canned food to help players endure the journey. The pack supports multiplayer, with voice chat and options for playing with friends, and is intended for a Backrooms experience rather than a general-purpose mod collection.
Written from Modrinth . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.20.1 · Fabric, 11 Sep 2026). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
Compared with the release of 24 Jun 2026 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. Same mods in both. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in its mods
We checked all 47 mods and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
4 mods send something about you
We read the code of all 47 of its mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI used in 1 of the 47 mods we checked
We found an AI tool in it, or its author declared AI content.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and code history and found none.
We have not read its files and images yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
