About
Ancient Curses centers on discovering cursed altars in the wilderness, taking on their rites, and earning loot and gems by completing them. Rites include surviving a curse while feeding soul nodes, defeating escalating enemy waves, and retrieving items for the altar; completing more of a rite yields greater rewards, and a dowsing rod can guide you toward altars and points of interest. After a rite, the altar can be used to fuse three matching gems into one of the next quality, from Broken to Polished to Perfect. A Lapidary Table lets you manage gems in a Golden Amulet and armor sockets, with gems boosting health, armor, luck, attack damage, movement and attack speed, or magical amplification, which extends beneficial potion effects and can make them stronger. Perfect gems also grant special effects, such as healing when low on health, a chance to negate damage, chances to double drops, stronger critical hits, increased enchantment levels, or speed boosts from melee attacks. The rare Ancient Alexandrite changes its benefits between day and night, while Ancient Bismuth periodically grants combat buffs and elemental effects, and Ancient Chrysoberyl provides creative flight along with increased movement speed, attack speed, and luck.
