About
Caged Mobs lets you collect mob drops by capturing an entity with a DNA Sampler and placing it in a cage, where it grows over time in a suitable environment. A regular cage is harvested manually, while a hopping cage automatically sends drops to the inventory below; over 75 vanilla and supported-mod entities can be raised, including bosses such as the Wither, Ender Dragon, Warden, and Elder Guardian. Cages need environment items suited to their occupants, such as hay for farm animals, stone for monsters, magma for Nether mobs, sand for desert or underwater mobs, snow for cold-biome mobs, and End stone for End mobs, with each environment affecting growth. Upgrades add specialized behavior: Cooking prepares cookable drops, Lightning enables drops that require a strike such as mob heads, Arrow enables arrow-dependent loot such as Creeper music discs, and Speed and Fortune improve collection efficiency. The mod supports content from Twilight Forest, Fire and Ice: Dragons, Tinkers’ Construct, Botania, Quark, Reliquary, Thermal Foundation, Aquaculture 2, Upgrade Aquatic, Mowzie’s Mobs, Mystical World, Alex’s Mobs, Bountiful Baubles, Greek Fantasy, Better Default Biomes, Outvoted, Autumnity, HunterIllager, Direbats, and Lava Monsters. Datapacks and CraftTweaker let players add entities, environments, and drops or modify existing recipes, while server configuration can blacklist entities and items or disable hopping cages.
