About
Dynamic Lights adds server-side illumination to Minecraft, so supported items and entities can cast light without players needing a client-side mod. More than 50 vanilla items are supported, including torches, glowstone and enchanted gear; held or worn by players or mobs, or displayed in item frames, they produce light at levels 3, 6, 9, 12 or 15. Enchanted items and amethyst-trimmed armor glow by default, while Fire Aspect items and certain tridents can glow more brightly; some items also switch their lighting behavior in water or rain, with optional sound cues. Mobs, falling blocks and display entities can also emit light when carrying supported items, and Curios slots are supported for modded inventories. The mod uses vanilla light blocks, so illumination follows the block grid rather than transitioning smoothly between blocks, and settings let server owners adjust features such as water sensitivity, rain checks and sound cues.
