Play instruments to give nearby allies buffs or enemies debuffs.

Effective Instruments adds magical buff and debuff auras to musical instruments, so playing can empower nearby allies or inflict harmful effects on nearby mobs. It supports stationary instruments from Genshin Instruments and Even More Instruments, as well as mobile instruments from Immersive Melodies; with Immersive Melodies, musicians can move around while a passive aura pulses during a melody or free play. Each of its 42 supported instruments has a distinct positive and offensive aura, including the Windsong Lyre’s Speed or slowing gale, the Glorious Drum’s Strength and Resistance, and the Koto’s Water Breathing and Dolphin’s Grace. For stationary instruments, the instrument’s positive aura is selected by default and starts affecting valid targets when the musician plays a note; switching to its offensive variant applies debuffs, and the aura clears after playing stops or the instrument is closed. Colored music-note particles show an aura’s range and configured color, while particles on affected mobs distinguish landed debuffs. When both aura tiers could affect the same player, the stationary tier takes precedence by default; mobile auras are lighter, with shorter range and duration. Instruments wear down with use and can be repaired on an anvil, with offensive auras consuming durability faster. Players can customize, disable, or add aura presets, change instrument-to-aura mappings, and tune effects, duration, radius, color, and display details; presets and mappings can also be supplied or overridden through datapacks. Optional NPC integrations let supported characters use the aura system, including Recruits soldiers, Guard Villagers, Touhou Little Maids, and MCA Reborn villagers.
Written from Modrinth , CurseForge and the GitHub README . How we write it
Does not change the game's code directly.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found in the parts we could check
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
One of its files for recent versions cannot be checked: its author does not let other sites download it from CurseForge.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends, in the 1 of its 2 files we read
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign so far that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
We have not read its code history yet.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.

More modpacks put it in their new versions than a year ago: 12 a month now, 0 a year agoThe average of the last 6 months, compared with the same 6 months a year before. We say it only when the change is large..
45 modpacks include Effective Instruments in at least one of their versions. Here are the 30 most downloaded.
Mods that modpacks often add together with Effective Instruments. Share: how many of the modpacks with Effective Instruments also have that mod.
The newest file for each Minecraft version and loader. The files for recent versions come first. Recent versions: those released in the last 2 years, plus 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, among the most played in modpacks.
In the last 2 years, 1 release needed a quick fix: a new release within 3 days to fix a problem. This counts in the grade, but it is too few to lose points.
