A mod that adds a new horrifying entity to Minecraft.
60.5 of the 71 points that apply = 85 out of 100. The points above are rounded to whole numbers.
The Midnight Lurker adds a horror-focused entity that can appear at night or in caves, stalking players and reacting to whether they watch it or approach it. Looking at the Lurker can make it teleport away, while approaching without looking can provoke a chase; an aggravated Lurker can break ordinary doors, and it gives up and teleports away if it cannot catch its target. The mod includes distinct variants: the Faker triggers a jumpscare and raises insanity, the Hider conceals itself underground and may leave a Void Gateway, the Shadow stalks dark places, and the Shapeshifter impersonates a villager to bait players into trading. Other encounters include the Unprovoked, which may attack without warning, and the Neutral/Runaway, which watches players and either approaches or flees; the latter also starts an insanity timer that stops if it is killed. Insanity progression brings additional threats, including an Aggressive Lurker at stage seven that can crawl through tight spaces, break glass and doors, and tunnel underground toward the player. Players can affect insanity by sleeping through the night, eating food, or fishing, while reaching stage six can cause Amnesia, which despawns nearby mobs when the player is looking away. The mod also features Void Hands that emerge from gateways and pursue nearby players, as well as rare invisible entities that create deceptive sounds or follow and watch the player. A new dimension is reached through a horizontally built portal made from the mod’s overworld Deepslate-related blocks and lit with its new flint and steel.
Written from Modrinth . How we write it
Does not change the game's code directly.
Adds:
Counted from the files of the mod. Content made only in its code is not counted.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files, images, sounds and code history and found none.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
