Cave Horror Project 1 is a horror-survival modpack built around a quest-led story, tense exploration, and encounters with supernatural threats. Its questline spans multiple chapters and includes more than 200 quests, with a progression path alongside optional quests. Horror additions include Haunted Pumpkins and Broken Dolls, while threats include The Anomaly, Cave Dweller, Doctor Who’s Weeping Angels, the Man From the Fog, Spider Moth, and Herobrine, whose events can involve legacy structures and a summonable shrine. The pack also features difficult ArPhEx bosses such as Apollyon and the Damned, alongside Red’s Anomaly and other dangerous encounters. Custom singleplayer and multiplayer menus, eerie shader and lighting changes, and resource packs including Enhanced Audio and Cave Packer reinforce the atmosphere. In multiplayer, Simple Voice Chat and Simple Void Radio let players craft walkie-talkies to communicate over distance, and quests and events are designed to support group play. Backpack crafting and quest-related recipes have also been adjusted as part of the pack’s survival and progression experience.
Written from Modrinth and CurseForge . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge, 1 Oct 2026). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
Compared with the release of 10 Sep 2026 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in its projects
We checked all 137 projects and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
5 mods send something about you
We read the code of all 115 of its mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI used in 6 of the 115 mods we checked
We found an AI tool in them, or their authors declared AI content.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and found none.
We have not read its files and images yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
