The Obsessed is a psychological-horror mod built around a mysterious entity that becomes fixated on a player and stalks them through the world, keeping its distance and often avoiding the player’s view. It first appears as a naturally spawning targeter that can lock onto a player, after which configurable spawning systems bring it back nearby; in multiplayer, settings control whether it targets one player or multiple players. The entity’s mood ranges from −5 to +5: accepting its unsettling gifts or offering favored foods such as golden apples, poppies, and cooked meat improves its mood, while attacking it or neglecting it makes it more irritable. Mood and circumstances shape its shifting modes, which include peeking from behind trees, crawling through cover, staring before fleeing, swimming stealthily, and approaching to leave gifts. Other behaviors include imitating the player’s chat, movements, and block placements; building small lairs, webs, and symbols; setting cobweb traps; and intruding into the player’s home to disturb the surroundings or steal an item. When displeased, it can become increasingly arachnoid, with spider-like forms that climb, attack, or appear in unsettling hallucinations; wolves may growl when it is nearby, and its sound design includes chittering, scratching, hissing, and spoken imitations of chat. Players can adjust spawn rates and other settings, use the /obsessed command for debugging, and, by defeating the entity, obtain a Totem of Revulsion that repels attacking mobs and can prevent or remove targeting. The mod also supports integration with Arthropod Phobia Expansions, and resource packs can change the entity’s appearance, including the Nightmare Obsessed pack’s consistently spider-like reskin.
Written from Modrinth and CurseForge . How we write it
Does not change the game's code directly.
Adds:
Counted from the files of the mod. Content made only in its code is not counted.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files, images and sounds and found none.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
